1. ‘Irrational City’

‘Irrational City’ — Dwayne Carter curated this exhibit of paintings, digital art, video, interactivity, installations and performance art that “focuses on constructions of identity amid an imagined post-apocalyptic cultural landscape.” See it at the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. 2. ‘Chrono Cops’
All weekend, through Aug. 22
“Chrono Cops: Elite Time Patrol” — chrono cops chase villains who have stolen the key to time travel. Our heroes must travel into the past and back to an alternate future to stop them and save the planet. It happens at the Pocket Sandwich Theater, 5400 E. Mockingbird. 3. Summer at the Arboretum
Friday
Summer at the Arboretum — fairy tale flower houses with a Texas twist, a replica of the Rio Grande, a covered chuck wagon, two topiary longhorn cattle and a hay-bale maze make for a fun-for-all-ages weekend kickoff. 4. Holy Smokers
Friday
Holy Smokers — they meet up weekly on the patio, by the pool at the home of Alan K. Hunt in north Lake Highlands. Gatherings feature “fellowship, free-wheeling discussion, free good beer, food, cigars, scotch, fresh air, great music and more … if you’re interested, you’re welcome.” Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. at “Holy Smokers Pub,” 9715 Trevor.
5. Bobcats football carwash fundraiser
Saturday
Car wash fundraiser for the Hamilton Park Bobcats — we’ve mentioned many a time how important youth football is to the Hamilton Park neighborhood. Help out the Bobcat youth football team and get a squeaky clean car to boot. It happens 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Taco Bueno at 8939 Skillman at Whitehurst.
