Paul Reyes announced on Jan. 15 that he would run. A week later, Adam McGough joined the race. And just this week, James White tossed his hat in the ring.

The president of the Lake Highlands Area Improvement Association, Murray Morgan, today announced upcoming opportunities to meet and/or grill the candidates:

Thursday, March 5 at Liberty Junior High School, 10330 Lawler, from 7-9 p.m. (Meet and Greet)

“This will primarily be a meet and greet event,” Morgan says.

Each candidate will speak for a limited time about himself and his qualifications, plans, priorities and expectations as a council member. Morgan and the LHAIA have asked the candidates to hang around after the presentations for one-on-one discussions with attendees.  Morgan says he has hosted meet-the-candidate type events in the past and thinks this format is a good way for District 10 neighbors to get to know the contenders.

Monday, April 13 at the Lake Highlands High School Freshman Center at 7 p.m. (Debate)

This event, sponsored by the LHAIA and the Lake Highlands Chamber of Commerce and moderated by the Lake Highlands Advocate editor, that’s us/me, also will allow each candidate an opportunity to state his case. Then the candidates will field and debate queries from the community. Questions will be submitted to and curated by the Advocate, Chamber and LHAIA in advance (details about submission forthcoming), but we will not share the questions with the candidates in advance.
