Slade Meierhofer helps with diaper collection at Moss Haven
Pamper Lake Highlands is the charity conceived by Caren Bright, who struggled to raise her oldest son in a homeless shelter while he was a toddler. She’s been happily living in LH for 13 years now, and last year she founded Pamper LH to furnish money and diapers for other families who find more than one diaper per day – as she once did – to be a luxury.
Last week, LH-area elementary schools held a Diaper Drive, and more than 28,000 diapers were received (White Rock Elementary won the award for most diapers collected). Last year, 12,000 were collected.
In addition to diaper help, Pamper LH helps families receive parenting classes, help with their GED, English lessons, counseling, financial literacy classes, bible studies and other life assistance.
“We all know how expensive diapers are,” says Erin Basden, who helped organized Moss Haven Elementary’s diaper drive with Brandy Meierhofer, “so this can really help many families in an immediate way. Caren Bright is doing an amazing job and I hope this continues to grow. This was my first year to help with this organization, but it is such a worthwhile cause and I was glad to be a small part of it. Moss Haven donated over 8,000 diapers, and when you think about how many families that will impact, it is really amazing.”
