Sun Fresh Market at Mockingbird and Abrams/Albertsons at Northwest Highway and Ferndale
Albertsons at Mockingbird and Abrams is now Minyard Sun Fresh Market. The Albertsons on Northwest Highway at Ferndale, however, remains Albertsons, for now.
In December, Advocate’s Keri Mitchell speculated on the fate of Albertsons stores that serve our neighborhood, after the company’s acquisition of United Supermarkets (known in DFW for its suburban Market Street concept) and merger with Safeway (known here as Tom Thumb), concluding they were set to transition to Minyard Sun Fresh Market — see how she arrived at that, here.
The Albertsons at Mockingbird and Abrams, as you can see in this storefront photo taken today, is now Minyard Sun Fresh. (As you also can tell from the photo, they are in need of a paint job).
The Albertsons on Northwest Highway is still Albertsons, but according to the company website, it is only a matter of time before this location also becomes Minyard Sun Fresh Market.
Hopefully company execs can tell us what, if anything (aside from the name), changes us shoppers can expect. We will report back when we know more.
