Shop for kids who need help preparing for the school year…

This Saturday, Aug. 16, Studio Movie Grill is accepting donations for school supplies benefitting area schools. Plus, if the supplies cost more that $5 each, Studio Movie Grill will give you a free child or student movie ticket.

Take the whole family to the Dallas Arboretum during ‘August Dollar Days’…

Head over to the Arboretum for $1 admission to the Dallas Arboretum. (Tip: Beat the heat by going right when it opens at 9 a.m.) For just $2 per person visit the Children’s Adventure Garden as well, which has several daily demonstrations on topics such as the solar system, native wetlands and more. Be sure see the daily schedule and purchase discounted parking online before you go.

Hit the town (while the kids hit the pool)…

Lake Highlands Family YMCA will provide dinner for little ones, along with fun in the indoor pool, arts, crafts, and a movie on Friday, August 22, from 6-10 p.m. Register at the welcome center or contact Lynzee Tavizon at ltavizon@ymcadallas.org or 214.221.9622. Cost is $18 per child and $28 per child for non-members. Registration deadline is Thursday, Aug. 21.
