At Abrams near Northwest Highway
Just Dogs “A Taste of Chicago” is coming soon to 5942 Abrams — northeast side of Abrams and Northwest Highway — according to a sign in front of the establishment, as well as permits and applications taped to the windows.
The approximately 2,900 square foot space formerly was home to the Abrams Postal Center.

An owner of the adjacent Benny’s Food Mart also will own and operate Just Dogs, according to data on the Dallas Central Appraisal District website. I’ve left a message for said proprietor and will report back regarding exactly when we can expect this taste of Chicago to hit the Lake Highlands-East Dallas border.
Neighborhood residents might recall a no-frills yet reputable Chicago Hot Dog/Eddie’s Deli on the southeast sector of the same intersection. Those dogs were well-liked but the store eventually went out of business and was replaced by Latin Deli, which seems to be thriving.
