The Wildcat Club has paid to install new wall and netting systems behind home plate at the Lake Highlands High School softball and baseball fields, and the difference is dramatic. You’ll discover a big enhancement to your game-watching experience, as your eyes see past the now minimal black netting which replaced old chain link backstops.

(Sadly, my photos don’t quite do justice to the improvements. In person, though the netting can be seen, it doesn’t take long watching before it disappears somehow.)

The Wildcat Club provided most of the $45,000 needed to fund the upgrades, with the balance coming from fundraisers sponsored by the softball and baseball teams. The nets will last for many years.

Friday night, the nets were dedicated in a ceremony between Varsity and JV games. On hand for the event were Wildcat Club Presidents Scott and Michelle Johnson, LHHS Athletic Director Scott Smith, Softball Head Coach Kelly Baker, Baseball Head Coach Corey Tucker and Principal Peggy Dillon.
