After just one year playing on the Wake Forest University volleyball team, Lake Highlands High School grad Matalee Reed has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team. The Atlantic Coast Conference made the announcement Thursday.
To be eligible for the honor, student athletes must earn at least a 3.0 GPA for the previous semester and maintain an overall 3.0 over their academic career.
Matalee transferred to Wake Forest after a year at Pepperdine and says the coach, the team and the university have all been a perfect fit. She finished the season with a team-high 31 service aces and was third on the squad with 237 kills. She registered 66 blocks and 174 digs for the Demon Deacons, starting every match in the 2013 season. The 2014 spring season begins at North Carolina State March 22.
Congratulations, Matalee!
