Radio talk show host Corby Davidson, who lives in Lake Highlands, recently faced a conundrum of sorts, revolving around a teenage girl, a stranger, asking his family for money.

Last summer, right before school started, a young girl of 15 or so came to his home — she asked Davidson’s wife, Julie, for help purchasing school supplies.

After a brief marital chat, the Davidsons decided to not give her cash but to buy her the school supplies.

“What have we got to lose by helping her out,” he said at the time, on air.

The girl, a Lake Highlands High School student (she told them), accepted the items with apparent gratitude. Several months passed and then, a few days ago, she was back. This time Corby answered the door. She relayed her story — she was poor and needed money for Christmas gifts for her little brother. Again she asked for money.

This time the Davidsons felt the girl was taking advantage of their generosity, and were prepared to say, “no.” But there was a catch. Their young son was standing by, listening to the girl’s story, and had an opinion of his own.

Here you can listen to the whole story.  After you do, let us know how you would handle such a situation.
