“Pat a band kid on the back today,” requests Lake Highlands High School band director Jeff Bradford, via email, because the band earlier this week unanimously earned superior rankings in the Region 3 UIL Marching Contest — that is the highest honor allowed.
The accolades come following months of hard work and dedication, he notes. And they could not have succeeded without the parents, pit pops, chaperones and fans, of course.
You can further support the Lake Highlands band next Wednesday just by dining at Beck’s Prime on Greenville Ave. From 6-10 p.m.,15 percent of all sales, when you request it, will go toward the band’s fund.
