School is underway. High School is underway. And that means Lake Highlands Wildcat football is fixin’ to get under way (I get one free “fixin’ to” and that was it).
The first Lake Highlands Wildcat home game versus Mesquite kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday, but you will want to get there early.
Arrive at about 5:30 p.m. at the home side in the parking lot for hot dogs and other delicious fare provided by the band, baseball team and Highlandettes.

The Lake Highlands High School student council organized the tailgate party, whose profits will support the involved groups.
Pay $5 for a dog, bottled water and chips.
And speaking of high school football and all things that, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the LHHS Bell Boys. I learned some interesting things interviewing a Bell Boy from the class of ’68, councilman Jerry Allen.
