Lake Highlands will be alive with the sound of music Tuesday night as the 37th Annual North Texas Festival of Drums and Bugles rolls in to Wildcat/Ram Stadium for their world-class show. The competition is part of the Drum Corps International (DCI) nationwide summer tour, and Lake Highlands’ own Jordan Brooks will be participating.

“If you’ve never seen a drum corps show before, I strongly encourage you to come check it out,” said Jordan, an LHHS 2010 grad, in a Facebook message inviting friends and neighbors. Jordan, now a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston, is a member of the Santa Clara Vangard drum line. Santa Clara, favored to win the contest, is last on the bill and will close out the show.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, but gates open at 4:30 and squads will start warming up at 6:30. Jordan’s group goes on at 8:55.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 317-275-1212, but hurry. This event is a traditional sellout. Prices range from $30 to $50 and benefit LH Area Bands.
