The student ministry of Highland Oaks Church of Christ is hosting a bake sale, garage sale and car wash this Saturday to support their upcoming youth mission trip to Nicaragua. The kids are heading to Central America in July, and they have four ways for you to help.
One: donate. You can deliver your garage sale items to the church’s Student Center, 10805 Walnut Hill Lane between Plano Road and LBJ, Thursday, June 20 before 4 p.m., Friday between 6-10 p.m. or Saturday at 7 a.m. Contact Kelly Kile about donating bake sale items, 214-213-1610.
Two: come. The car wash/bake sale/garage sale will be held between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. (is there anything better than baked goods fresh from the oven of neighborhood church ladies?!?)
Three: eat. Local Mexican restaurant, Los Corrales (1449 S. Jupiter in Garland) is supporting the effort by agreeing to donate 10% sales on Sunday, June 23. Mention the Highland Oaks Mission Trip to secure the kickback for the kids.
Four: spread the word. The Highland Oaks team asks that you let friends and neighbors know about their fundraiser.
Lake Highlands has benefitted greatly from Highland Oaks’ community involvement, including serving as home to the Lake Highlands Women’s League luncheons, which raise money for college scholarships, and playing host to Hoops in the Highlands, which earns funds for LH-area schools. HOCC also hosts Young Life dinners and invites junior high students to open gym nights.
Contact Kate Trujillo at 214-563-6195 if you’d like to help.
