butterflyThis Sunday at 2 p.m., a butterfly release ceremony will celebrate the memory of loved ones lost. The event, to be held in the park-like setting of the future home of the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center at 12379 Merit Drive, is organized by Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Hundreds of majestic monarchs will be released.

The program will include music by MosiacSong, a women’s vocal ensemble and music therapists with Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Speakers will include Godwin Dixon, president and CEO of Presbyterian Communities and Services, Rev. Dr. Charles R. Traylor, Valerie Sanchez, Director of Bereavement and Integrated Therapies, and Mary Izak, Chapain.

More than 700 are expected to attend, including many residents of Presbyterian Village North in Lake Highlands. The spring butterfly ceremony is an emotional reunion of children, parents, grandparents and friends seeking to express their grief and remember their loved ones. The butterfly symbolizes change, rebirth and renewal.
