It’s a chocolate lover’s dream. Gazing into the glass case full of handmade truffles, you don’t really know where to start. Coconut? Amaretto? White Russian? Champagne? The good news is that no matter which of the 13 flavors you choose, you’ll enjoy every indulgent bite. And at only $2.25 each, you can try a few. Owner Chuck Cole even says that some of his customers come in every day just to eat a truffle. And that’s not the only way to spoil yourself at this neighborhood cafe. Try one of the fruit tartlets with fresh spring berries and kiwi, or devour a slice of the scrumptious cheesecake, hand-whipped by chef Erron Thames. Or feast your eyes on the wall of drinks, with more than 60 glass-bottled flavors alone. It has plenty of rare finds, like the Coca-Cola drinks made with real sugar instead of corn syrup. Cole uses more than 10 vendors to keep his case filled. “It would be a lot easier just to have a soda fountain there,” he says, “but I love the glass bottles.” Our tastebuds appreciate the effort.
