In August, we told you that Greenville Avenue restaurant owners Yayehyirad “Yared” Lemma and Yenenesh “Yenni” Desta were shot and killed by a co-worker who felt disrespected by them.
Police have been searching for 37-year-old Abey Belette Girma ever since. Robert Wilonsky with the DMN reports that Girma was found in an Aurora, Colorado, jail and has been extradited to Dallas, where he is being held on a $1 million bond and has been charged with capital murder.
If you don’t recall the case, Girma is alleged to have gunned down Lemma and Desta on the front porch of their East Dallas home after following them home from the Ethiopian restaurant Desta, which they operated, near Greenville and Forest. Girma then is alleged to have shown an acquaintance the gun he used in the shooting and forced the man to drive him to Kansas, where police lost his trail until he was found in Colorado.
Wilonsky says Girma will make a court appearance Monday.
