Larry Hagman, best known for his roles as Tony Nelson on “I Dream of Jeannie” and JR Ewing on “Dallas,” is the Dallas Children’s Theater‘s newest and biggest fan. Not only has his newly-formed foundation donated $25,000 to the theater, but Hagman attended a performance of Pinkalicious and very much enjoyed himself.
“Being a reluctant vegan some years ago, I could really relate to Pinkalicious and her aversion to green foods,” Hagman is quoted as saying in a recent Dallas Children’s Theater press release. “Knowing that it was the best thing for me after some life-changing health challenges, though, I too had to muster up the courage to include more green foods in my diet. It’s a good lesson for kids.”
Hagman toured the theater last week, and is also expected to interact with the students involved in the theater’s upcoming all-teen production, “Teen Brain: The Musical.” His donation, according to the release, “will enable Dallas Children’s Theater to continue providing out-of-school dramatic workshop experiences at a severely discounted rate and to expand its teen outreach programs.” Kudos to Hagman and his pinker side.
