If it seems like no one is watching the football game tonight, like everyone is sitting in their bleacher seats with their noses in a book, don’t fret. That’s a Lake Highlands tradition.

Tonight is the first Wildcat home game, which means it’s your first opportunity to purchase the Wildcat Club’s All Sports Program. Part art project, part scrapbook, all fundraiser, the program features ads by local businesses and sayonaras by senior parents to their soon-to-be graduates. (Yeah, this goodbye stuff will be going on all year.)

Of course, the book also offers standard program fare, like player rosters for LHHS and tonight’s opponent Plano West, info on all the coaches, a season schedule and player stats. At 144 pages plus inserts, it’s a bargain at $5. Funds raised support athletes at LHHS, LHFC, LHJH and FMJH.

You can purchase the program beginning at 7pm from Highlandettes and their dads out front of The Boneyard, and/or you can buy from the creators, Greg and Katie Mueller and Bryan and Kari Urban of the Wildcat Club, inside the stadium (this is a huge volunteer job, so swing by their table and pat them on the back). The Clawset store will also sell them each week.

Katie hints that you shouldn’t miss a couple of funny ads featuring senior Lars Frederiksen, whose mom Patsy works in the insurance game, and one for LH business Mai Plumbing.

I’m thinking those Jones boys better throw some touchdown passes if they want the crowd to lift their eyes out of this book. Go Cats!
