Former Dallas Cowboy Tony Liscio is recovering today after collapsing from an apparent heart attack at Thursday’s Silver and Blue Debut at Cowboys Stadium. The longtime Lake Highlands resident was one of many former Cowboy greats watching from the sidelines.

Liscio was lucky, in many ways, because his episode occurred while the team was still practicing and paramedics were nearby to stabilize his heart.

Liscio, 72, played for the Cowboys from 1963 to 1971, the year of the first Super Bowl win. Since then he’s been actively involved in youth sports in LH and around Dallas, and he cheered his son, Tony Jr. and the rest of the LH Wildcats to a state championship in 1981.

Tony Jr., sister Michele Liscio Patterson and brother Michael have expressed gratitude for prayers and well-wishes for their dad.
