Heading off to summer camp is a rite of passage for many teens and pre-teens in Lake Highlands, but the cool kids often leave sulking younger siblings home waving goodbye, wishing they could enjoy the fun.

This year Lake Highlands United Methodist Church is hosting Base Camp, a new creation by Pine Cove Christian Camps. The day camp for kids who’ve completed K-4th grade will offer all the fun they can possibly squeeze between 9am and 4pm.

“Pine Cove comes with a sound record of doing wonderful things in the lives of kids & families,” said Trish Callis, Family Ministry Director at LHUMC. “They will bring amazingly energetic college students from across the country here to Lake Highlands. On top of that, they set up water slides, climbing walls, bungee trampolines, skits, and team sports right at our front door.”

LH Base Camp runs the week of August 6-10 and registration is online here. The cost is $225 (LHUMC has partnered with Pine Cove to offer full or partial scholarships, email Farrel Chapman here to request a scholarship for yourself or someone else or to donate to the scholarship fund).  LHUMC is located at 9015 Plano Road at McCree.
