At about 2 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to a far north Lake Highlands area home after a man reportedly shot himself in the leg, with a 9mm he carried in the pocket of his cargo shorts, while on the toilet. The man’s wife awoke to the scene and took him to the hospital. Police say there was “no evidence of criminal offense” and, surprisingly, “no involvement of alcohol or drugs”.
Wednesday at about 2 p.m., police were called to the White Rock Lake Dog Park after a 20-year-old woman reported that her boyfriend or date (the report indicates it was a man who accompanied her to the dog park) tried to strangle her with a dog leash while saying, “you will not disrespect me,” following an argument over shoes.
Early Thursday, thieves who entered through the ceiling attempted to steal nearly $20,000 from Dave and Busters restaurant on Walnut Hill. Reportedly three suspects were apprehended and the money — a bag of $19,860 worth of $20 bills —was recovered near the scene. The suspects were arrested on charges of marijuana possession and public intoxication, respectively, and are being investigated for the burglary.
