Celebrate Independence Day all week! We may only have one day off work, but Lake Highlands has a whole week of events. Know of more events going on? Let us know in the comment section.
Tuesday, July 3
The 36 Infantry Division Band will be performing patriotic tunes during this week’s Dallas Arboretum summer concert series. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The person with the best patriotic attire will be awarded a family four-pack to Studio Movie Grill. Get tickets before they sell out. Costs range from $9 to $22.

The Exchange Club July 4th Parade begins at 9 a.m. in front of Lake Highlands High School on Church. Show up at 8:30 a.m. if you want to watch the float judging, and stay late to hear Bluestem Grass perform across the street at the Lake Highlands Recreation Center.
Start your holiday morning with an 8k run next to White Rock Lake and through Norbuck Park. The Flagpole 8k, held by RunOn! begins at 7:30 a.m. in Norbuck Park with registration at 6:15 a.m.
Saturday, July 7
Don your red, white and blue sports attire for yet another race: the Independence Day 5k/10k at Winfrey Point. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the race starts at 8:00 a.m. Kids can do crafts and participate in their own race, too. Cost is $10, but members of the Dallas Running Club get in for free. Volunteers are needed.
