Luke and Paula Davis (right) congratulate graduating LHHS senior Stephanie Eyocko, with her Stults Road Elementary principal, Darwin Spiller

The entire community is invited to congratulate retiring RISD trustee Luke Davis at a reception Thursday evening at Lake Highlands High School. Luke has completed 12 years of service, so the kids who’ll be receiving diplomas at graduations in June were finishing Kindergarten when he was first elected.

Four high schools times twelve years times hundreds of graduates per class: that’s touching a lot of lives.

The retirement party will be held from 5-6:30 in the LHHS library. Later that evening, the LHFC choir will present a Patriotic Concert in the LHHS auditorium, and a special presentation will be made in Luke’s honor. The concert begins at 7:30pm.

On a personal note, we here at Advocate are especially fond of Luke, and we consider him one of our own. In addition to being a former columnist for the magazine, Luke is continuously feeding me good news stories about great kids and great teachers in Lake Highlands. “You should really write about so-and-so; you need to tell people about such-and-such” – and his leads have led to some of my favorite feature stories.

Thank you Luke for your selflessness, for your sincerity and for never, never, never giving up on kids.
