Kudos to videographer David Leeson, who strapped thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment onto his mountain bike to create the trail video we showcased this month. Leeson lives in Hollywood Heights, and the Santa Fe Trail, which connects to the White Rock Trail at the southern tip of the lake, runs near his house. It got a little sketchy toward the end, he told us:

“That lower part of the trail is for people with fast bikes — and, definitely not for someone with nearly five grand in photo equipment attached. Unfortunately my mountain bike is pretty slow, and I’m slower than my bike.”

For any of you camera nerds, Leeson also gave us those details: “Canon 5D MK II mounted to bike with a Bogen ‘Magic Arm.’ At rear is a Bogen ‘Fig Rig’ used for stabilization when using the camera off mount. The mounts are also compatible speed connections to facilitate simple switches from either device. The lens is a Canon 24-105mm, but a Canon 20mm lens was used for most bike mounted scenes.”
