Lake Highlands resident Amy Timmerman has the honor of being chosen the first recipient of the Ebby Halliday Community Service Award. The tribute was named this year for the legendary industry pioneer and is given annually by the MetroTex Association of Realtors to a member of the real estate industry for their role in building North Texas communities.
“I was truly humbled to have received the award and still cannot believe it!” she told me.
Timmerman, who works at Nathan Grace Real Estate and is involved in a multitude of roles in a wide variety of community and charitable endeavors, was recognized in particular for co-chairing Chi Omega Christmas Market for the past two years. Under her leadership, the Market enabled Dallas Chi Omega Alumnae to distribute more than $500,000 to local charities and collegiate scholarships. Halliday herself presented the award.
“It was an honor to be given this award, not only because of the most remarkable namesake of the award and all the good she has done in our community,” said Timmerman, “but also because it is an award that recognizes not necessarily what I have done, but the amazing good an army of over 100 women have done and the impact we have made in our community.”
