The Lake Highlands High School varsity wrestling team moved to 17-0 and stayed undefeated this season.
The varsity team this past weekend beat Highland Park 71-6, Arlington Lamar 51- 12, Berkner 55- 13 and Keller Central 55-21.
Ryan Branch, Yordi Calix, Lee Lueder, Duncan Mcauley, Nathan Schulman, Deandre Neroes and Thayer Atkins over the weekend went undefeated. The team still has three undefeated wrestlers— senior Nathan Schulman at 21-0, junior Dandre Brumfield at 16-0 and sophomore Thayer Atkins at 21-0.
Says coach Pete Grieder, “They lead a strong well-balanced team of veterans that are just having fun working their way through the wrestling season.”
The junior varsity also did well as they easily disposed of all four teams by winning 45 matches and losing only 4.
The previous weekend, LHHS wrestlers beat 21 teams to win the Tri-State Tournament at home. (See details about that tournament after the jump).
Next weekend, the varsity team travels to Saginaw for a tournament on Saturday and the JV wrestles at St. Marks on Friday.
