Wildcat soccer hero Emmet Kumeh is now lighting up the scoreboard for Southern Methodist University, scoring a breakaway goal early in Saturday night’s home game to put the Mustangs up 1-0. Emmet received the ball at midfield with finesse, then launched a power shot from 35 yards out into the upper corner of the net. William & Mary eventually earned an upset over 5th-ranked SMU 3-2, but freshman Emmet earned his first career goal at the college level.
While at LHHS, Emmet served as captain for both the Wildcats and for his Ayses club team, which won multiple state titles. Emmet was also a member of the U.S. National Team pool and played in numerous national and international tournaments. Here at home, he was District MVP twice.
Emmet and the rest of the Mustangs will next travel to North Carolina for the Duke tournament over Labor Day Weekend, but if you’d like to see Emmet at work, he’ll face Dartmouth Friday, Sept. 16th at 7:30pm at SMU’s Westcott Field in the SMU Classic. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the gate, online here or by calling 214-SMU-GAME. Go Emmet!
