If it seems like it has been unseasonably warm so far this year, that’s because it has. A typical Dallas summer has 16 100-degree days, and we’ve already had 10. In an average summer, we don’t reach 10 100-degree days until early August. And it’s not like the last three summers were cool, either, with 29, 21, and 30 100-degree days. Hard to believe that the summer of 2007 had just 5 100-degree days, and July that year was a degree cooler than normal.
Never fear, though. We’re nowhere close to a record. That was set in 1980, when there were 69 100-degree days.
