Current and former Boy Scouts from Troop 890 in Lake Highlands are planning a big celebration, and they’re working to get the word out. They’re commemorating the 50th anniversary of this group which has helped to grow some of the finest men among us, and they want to make it a reunion for all the scouts and adult leaders who’ve participated over the years.

The reunion will be held Monday, May 23rd from 7-8:30 pm at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, 9015 Church Road. Veteran scouts are accustomed to gathering there on Monday nights – Troop 890 was chartered in 1961 at that church, and troops have been meeting there on Monday nights for 50 years.

The celebration will feature video presentations, including photos from campouts and events over the years. Attending the party is free and desserts will be served, but an email RSVP to Bryan Urban is requested here.

In the meantime, you can catch up with what today’s Scouts are doing in this photo slideshow, taken at Camp Constantin last summer.
