Over the past two weeks, Highland Park ISD has announced the retirement of two elementary principals, and it’s got a few Lake Highlands parents worried. Are LH’s favorite principals safe?

Just before the current school year began, HP stole away LHHS principal Walter Kelly, who replaced longtime leader Dr. Bob Iden and was expected to serve a long and happy term here. He lasted two years. Jeremy Gilbert was a favorite with students and parents alike before HP snatched him away to become principal at Hyer. He was recently named HP’s Best Principal in a parent poll.

HPISD hasn’t named replacements or said if they’ll promote from within or look elsewhere, but if their track record is any indication, this would be a good time to show your favorite LH principal a little love and appreciation. Of course, that assumes the RISD  can afford to keep her/him.
