Music fans are in for a treat this Friday night, as the talented musicians of Lake Highlands High School perform their annual Evening of Jazz at the LH Freshman Center auditorium at 7 pm.

The show combines the Wildcat Jazz I band, reigning champions of the TCU Jazz Festival, and the Jazz II band with Forest Meadow’s talented jazz students in one collaborative performance. Featured guest artist Ed Soph, Professor of Jazz Studies and Performance at the University of North Texas, will wow the crowd with his skills on drums, and LH’s own Rachel Jones, recently named to the All-State Choir, will perform as guest vocalist.

The concert will double as a CD release for Jazz I’s 2011 album, “Pocket Full o’ Jazz,” also featuring Ed Soph. The CD sells for $15, and proceeds benefit the LH band.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or via the band’s website here. Students pay $7, reserved seats are $12, and general admission is $10. Doors open at 6 pm for ticket and CD sales. You can check out photos from the fall LHHS Jazz Jam here.
