You may have heard that the Smithsonian is presenting, “The Art of Video Games,” one of the first exhibitions to fully explore the 40-year evolution of video games. Now through April 7, you can vote for your favorite – the games that boast spectacular visuals and innovative technology. The final exhibit will feature 80 games, five of which you can actually play on site.
The online voting system is divided by five eras from the 1970s to today. From archaic yet immensely important Atari games like Pac-Man and Space Invaders to the latest trends in Xbox such as Halo and Bioshock.
I’ve always been more of Nintendo girl myself, starting with the Super Nintendo console as a kid and now the Wii. So my favorites would obviously be Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., etc.
What were your favorite video games growing up? Share them with us. And who knows, they may end up in the Smithsonian.
