Lake Highlands High basketball suffered two losses Tuesday night. One ended the season for the Lady Wildcats girls basketball team, the other put the boys basketball team into a single game elimination situation in hopes of a playoff.

The Lake Highlands boys lost to Richardson, 59-53, in the final game of the season forcing a play-in game for the fourth and final playoff seed in District 9-5A.

Both LHHS and Richardson finished the district schedule at 8-6 leaving the two teams in a tie for fourth place. The two teams will play each other for a third time ,after splitting the season series, in a play-in game. The date and time are not set yet, but word is the game could be Friday. I’ll have an update as soon as I know.

Lake Highlands trailed by one point at halftime, and went into the fourth quarter with a tie. However, Richardson felt at ease on its home court and had four players in double digits at the end of the game.

Out at Mesquite Horn, the Lady Wildcats went up against one of the top teams in the area and found it very hard to come by points losing 48-29 to Garland in the Class 5A Bi-District Playoffs.

Tierra Scott scored 10 points for LHHS, but two of the top scorers in the area Gabrielle Wilkins and Shantoria Taylor combined for 33 points for Garland.
