Older adults get fit with using new neighborhood business. (Hope John Reeg doesn't mind us swiping this sweet pic from his site.)

Lake Highlands resident John Reeg recently launched a fitness business, Silver Star Health and Fitness, aimed at helping seniors get in shape.

Reeg says he wants to help the scores of Baby Boomers who will hit retirement age in the next few years.

“My experience has been helpful for those individuals not wanting to work out in a gym environment,” he says. “There are a few in-home personal training businesses operating in Dallas but none that specialize in senior fitness,” he adds.

So, what type of experience does this guy have? Glad you asked — he has a pretty impressive resume: He’s worked for more than three years at LA Fitness (to which I’m beginning to think everyone in Lake Highlands belongs). He is a nationally certified personal trainer, former P.E. teacher, gymnastics coach, Marine and Viet Nam veteran.

As personal training goes, his prices are quite reasonable and outlined on his web site.
