In-N-Out spokesman Carl Van Fleet tells us that the company plans to open an In-N-Out on Coit near the junction of 75 and 635, right in the middle of the High Five action.
“It’s still early in the process,” Van Fleet says. “A lot still has to happen before we can open.”
The other In-N-Out planned for Dallas will take over the former Steak ‘n Shake on Caruth Haven and Central; Fleet says construction should begin on this site soon. He also told us about a location planned for Las Colinas, and confirmed five other locations: Firewheel Town Center in Garland; West Seventh in Fort Worth; Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco; The Village at Allen; and Hurst. Construction on the Allen and Frisco locations has begun.
“We are still in the early stages of construction so it’s hard to guess at an opening date but, if everything goes well, we hope to open both in the spring,” Van Fleet says.
The news of the Coit and Las Colinas locations came in response to questions for our February cover story (hitting doorsteps in about a week and a half) that focuses on companies like In-N-Out, which have loyal followings in Dallas even though they have yet to open a store here. For In-N-Out fans keeping track, the California-based fast food icon has now announced eight North Texas locations. The company touts its practice of serving only fresh hamburger meat from its patty-making facility in California, so to service all of the new Texas stores, In-N-Out will build such a facility here. Van Fleet says the company is “still working on a permanent home” for this distribution center, “but we’re getting close. In the interim, we will be leasing space just west of Dallas off of I-30.”
