Good 2 Go Tacos, the gourmet taco shop that got its start inside Green Spot, is waiting on a couple of permits from the city and plans to open its new storefront at 1146 Peavy within days. Owners say they will announce the official opening first on Facebook, so if you’re not on, get on here.
In case you are just learning about Good 2 Go or want a refresher course, we wrote about it in the Advocate last year
“The tortilla is just a vehicle.” So says Colleen O’Hare of her culinary creations at Good 2 To Go Tacos, which sits in the back of Green Spot Market and Fuels. She and partner Jeana Johnson combine their many years in the restaurant business to whip up all sorts of new takes on the traditional taco. “It’s like ‘Top Chef’ in our kitchen every day,” Johnson jokes. “There’s a lot of artistic interpretation happening.” Case in point: the Chaaty Kathy, Moroccan braised chicken, lentils and quinoa; or the Shroom Vroom, portabello mushrooms, asparagus, orzo, caramelized cauliflower and feta. Local ingredients are key, which means the menu changes regularly, depending on what’s in season. Typically, there are about three breakfast tacos, and about five lunchtime offerings. And should you want to kick things up a notch, there are more than 60 bottles of hot sauce to choose from.
