Once Upon a Child, the Lake Highlands version, is open for business.
The resale shop Once Upon a Child opens Thursday at 6300 Skillman (at Abrams). Once Upon a Child is a franchise that requires its owners to “open to buy” for 4-6 weeks before opening to sell. The Lake Highlands location has been buying since November and will open to sell this Thursday. Get a sneak preview today, but they will close tomorrow to prepare for the grand opening.
Lake Highlands residents Tricia Hundley and Addi Ledford, a teacher and coach at LHHS, own the store. They will continue to buy gently used children’s clothing and furniture — they’ll look at your items and, if they choose, make you an offer and pay you on the spot, rather than make you wait in consignment-store fashion.
Members of the Hundley and Ledford families are working at the store, so when you drop in to buy or sell, at least one if not all of them will be happy to help, the owners say.
