The ninth annual $10 Wine Hall of Fame is in this month’s magazine. It was a mixed case (yes, a very bad pun) for cheap wine in 2010, despite the increasing popularity of inexpensive wine because of the recession. Too many wineries, particularly in California, figured all they had to do was bottle some very average plonk and they’d impress people. But the wines that did make the Hall this year, plus the holdovers, are still an impressive group.
I have an extended version of the 2011 Hall on my wine blog, with more analysis and few more wines.
