They’re becoming distant memories, almost – travel agents, encyclopedias and even the home telephone. As the New Year takes us into another decade, The Huffington Post lists the top 12 things of 2010 that are now almost completely obsolete.
Some of them are no-brainers like the Yellow Pages (that for some reason are still being left in our driveways).
Others on the list are a bit of a stretch: junk email instead of junk snail mail – I still get a fair amount of catalogs and coupons in my physical mail box (what’s the hold up, environmentalists?); fax machines – not so obsolete in the business world, and I don’t think they’ve ever been that “hot” at home.
And then there are things that I wish weren’t so obsolete: hand-written love letters, communicating in ways besides texting, emailing and Facebooking.
Oh, and when’s the last time you checked the newspaper classifieds? That reminds me of the other day when my grandma asked me not to throw out her paper because she needed to look up movie times. I simply replied, “But … the internet … nevermind.”
