The results of the 2010 Trinity River Photo contest are in and the Lake Highlands resident who shot this gorgeous dragonfly image won third place in the amateur wildlife division. The contest received almost 900 entries, organizers say. That represents a significant jump in interest from 2009 when 300-some photos were entered in the contest. The photographer, STARLA HORSTMAN was excited about the recognition and the opportunity to attend the awards presentation at Dallas City Hall with Mayor Tom Leppert and Councilman Dave Neumann, Chairman of the Trinity River Corridor Project Council Committee. City representatives, in a recent press release, note that they hope the annual contest will “get people down to the river to see the levee system and floodway, which provide vital flood protection for Dallas, and these flood protection components represent a major focus for the Trinity River Corridor Project.” So, here’s to Starla Horstman: nicely done!
