Healing Hands Ministries hosted its first annual golf tournament at Dallas Athletic Club yesterday, and participants had high praise for the event and the organization. “It’s a chance to help a nice charity and play golf with some nice friends,” said Barry Thames. “I couldn’t miss it.” A photo slideshow is viewable here.

“We’re not playing too well, but we’re having lots of fun,” said Bryan Ward, who was invited to play by friend Sam Tinsley.  “There are tons of Wilshire [Baptist Church] folks out here, and it’s a great day for golf.”

“Better here than the office,” agreed Larry Zacharias as he rode with cartmate Dr. David Haymes. “The best part of the day was the doctor’s eagle,” added Chris Kimme, part of the foursome.

Mike Anderson doesn’t live in Lake Highlands, but he came out to play since his employer, Comerica Bank, was a tournament sponsor. Cartmate Steve Stremmel was there to fill him in on the charity clinic’s mission. “Healing Hands does very good work in the community. I’m glad LH has an organization like this for those who need help.”

Playing nearby were couples Don & Barbara Eubank and Tony & Joan Colgin. (I didn’t hear anything at all about unlimited mulligans while watching them play.)

“No fair taking pictures of our scorecard,” warned Chris Roberts playfully before sinking a nice putt.

Final numbers will be tallied soon, but the event was declared a success by HHM founder, Janna Gardner, and volunteers from the HHM Auxiliary who spent the day greeting guests and serving lunches.
