Whipped Lightning's website markets the alcoholic beverage with the slogan, "Whipped cream's not just for kids anymore"

Just when you thought it was safe to send your kid back to college after the Thanksgiving break, a new alcoholic product is ready to fill the void left when the uproar over Four Loko caused many stores to pull it off the shelves. Whipped Lightning is advertised as “the world’s first alcohol-infused whipped cream” on the maker’s website, a bit like the Reddi-Whip you put on your pumpkin pie last week. But this is whipped topping with a twist – 18% alcohol by volume.

Students on college campuses are buzzing, literally. Despite the website’s claim that “Whipped cream’s not just for kids anymore,” students are trying – and loving – the new product. As one article said, “what teenager doesn’t love to spray massive loads of whipped cream into their mouth?”

When I first blogged about Four Loko, my concern was that Lake Highlands High School students might discover the alcoholic drink while visiting friends on college campuses. As LH juniors and seniors continue their college visits and college students return home for Christmas after exams, Whipped Lightning is just one more thing for wary parents to watch out for.
