Members of the Wildcat volleyball team are waking up disappointed this morning. A win last night in Plano against Sachse would have led to a road trip to Huntsville to play at Sam Houston State University in the Regional Semifinals. It was not to be.

But players and fans are looking back on a great season. “The highpoint would definitely have to be beating Belton in the second round of playoffs after having an article written about us being ‘inexperienced,’” said Hollyn Adams, senior captain of the team.

“We started off this season with 6 sophomores, 4 juniors, and only 2 seniors,” added junior Ann Jaggars, “so obviously we were very new and very young. In preseason we played many of the top teams in the state, and it looked as if we had no hope whatsoever. But we really came together and worked hard to prove people wrong.”

In retrospect, players had high praise for each other and for their loyal fans. “To my teammates, I love you guys,” said senior captain Emily Hillman, sidelined during playoffs by an injury. “We treated each other with respect, we worked well together on the court, and we grew closer throughout the season. I wouldn’t want to sit on the bench of any other team. To the fans, a HUGE thank you. Your cheering and support sustained our energy throughout tough matches, and your loyalty got us to where we are. I’m thankful every day that I live in Lake Highlands.”
