Lake Highlands is a pretty patriotic place, so you probably know Veteran’s Day is coming soon – November 11. If you’d like to show your patriot pride, you can support local scouts by paying them to install an American flag at hour home on the six most all-American days of the year.

Boy Scouts and Venture Crew in Troop 707, sponsored by the Dallas Elks Lodge, will deploy a flag for you each President’s Day, Flag Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, September 11 and Veteran’s Day. The cost is $75 the first year and $50 each year thereafter, and funds will be used for campouts and equipment. The Venture Crew, open to high school boys and girls, is raising money to attend Sea Base High Adventure Camp in the Bahamas this summer.

“I have heard from so many neighbors about how much the flags mean to them,” said Pete Puckett, Assistant Scout Master. “Our goal is to see the entire street filled with flags proclaiming our pride in our history, forefathers and veterans and to remember the sacrifices Americans have made to keep us free.”

The flags are 3 x 5 feet and go on a ten foot pole positioned in the grass outside your sidewalk. You can email Pete here for more information and to subscribe to the Flag Project, but he needs to hear from you before Halloween to ensure your flag is ready by this year’s Veteran’s Day.
