Lake Highlands is the place to be tonight as the Cats host their first home football game of the season, with all the accompanying excitement that brings. If you aren’t a season ticket holder you can buy a ticket in the foyer of LHHS this morning before noon. You can also purchase the new “Got Wild” t-shirts from the varsity cheer squad for $10 during lunch today at the school.

Highlandettes and their dads will be selling the hot-off-the-presses All Sports Program, with all your game-day stats and high quality photos of the kids (my favorite part is the senior ads section, often with baby photos of the soon-to-be graduates and well wishes from their family and friends).

Football dads will have the inflatable Wildcat ready for tunnel-time, and the players will run through smoke and the cheerleaders’ tear-away spirit signs to take the field. Listen for the bell all day as the Bell Boys rally the troops, and you can even sneak into the LHHS pep rally about 1:30 pm to watch the kids get revved up for the game.

At the half, enjoy a musical show played to OUR side of the field (it’s good form to play to the press box and we’ve done that for both away games, though not all squads mind their manners). The Dettes will perform a stepladder routine to Wizard Wheezes from the Harry Potter movie, performed by the mighty Wildcat Marching Band (did you know not all drill teams perform to live music – some prefer recorded pop songs played on bad sound systems. How nice that our band and Dettes cooperate!).

You can also purchase red and black spirit wear from the Clawset under the bleachers and get a surprisingly tasty hot dog from the concession stand. Heaven!
