Pumpkins on the St. James Episcopal Church lawn (McCree and Audelia) signify fall as much as the cooler (hey, 80 degrees is cooler) weather. Those orange spheres signify the dawn of the holiday season.
Now, I enjoy that early fall day each year when I drive over the hill and am met with the spread of pumpkins, so — spoiler alert — if you’d rather wait for the surprise, read no more.
For the rest of you, drum roll, the pumpkins arrive Oct. 3 and you can take your pick of the patch beginning the next day.
