For this week’s podcast, we traveled to Lake Highlands High School, home of the Wildcats, to chat with new principal Peggy Dillon (she is pictured between Ellen Raff and Carol Toler). As Raff mentioned in her column this month, Dillon is the first female principal at LHHS, but as she told us during the podcast, that’s not fazing her one bit.
Dillon also explained to us the phenomenon of slateboards (which more and more LHHS teachers are using in their classrooms), talked about reaching out to high school dropouts, and divulged her varied music interests (both Alicia Keys and Clint Black can be found in her iPod playlists).
Make sure to stay tuned until the end for several shameless plugs from an all-star cast of LHHS students: Highlandettes Sarah Blettner and Megan Jodie (contact Kristine Courtney to purchase the gift cards they promote); cheerleaders Kali Kopf, Lauren Villanueva and Alexandra Burgin (get more info about the Red Out fundraiser and the clinic from Ingrid Kopf); football player Braden Fair (learn more about the Wildcat Cards he mentions from Beth Hanks); Wrangler Hollyn Adams (their events and fundraisers can be found on the Wranglers website); and volleyball player Emily Hillman (contact Amy Hillman for more on the Pink Out game this Friday).
