Lake Highlands (1-1) was hoping for revenge from a season ago, but could not quite get a grasp on the Mesquite Horn (1-1) offense. A strong third quarter from the Jaguars pushed them ahead for a 48-21 win against the Wildcats.
Running back Desmond Roland added 140 yards rushing and a touchdown to his season stats and sophomore Michael Ketchmark passed for 143 yards.
However, Horn quarterback Collin Strahan passed for 315 yards and three touchdowns on the night. Horn’s Jakeem Grant finished the night with 9 catches 181 yards and two touchdowns.
Three straight touchdowns in the third quarter and another at the beginning of the fourth helped Horn pull away.
