Latest in a series of Q&A’s with LH football players as the start of practice approaches Monday. Today’s subject: Linebacker/running back Roderick Mackey.
Q: What shape would you say the team is in heading into two-a-days?
A: I would say the team is in the best shape ever. We came in with a goal, and we’re working to achieve it.
Q: What needs to be accomplished during two-a-days?
A: We have a lot of young players this year. It’s time for them to step up. When they step up, as a team we grow.
Q: What’s going to be new and improved about the Wildcats in 2010?
A: The new Wildcats are going to shock the state. I feel as a team captain we will be very strong. “Losing is not an option.”
Q: Which do you like better: running the ball or making tackles?
A: I love to run the ball, because I feel that every time I touch the ball I could score. But on the other hand, I love making tackles for the defense.
Q: Will it be hard to play both running back and linebacker from a stamina standpoint? That’s a lot of snaps.
A: I’m in the best shape ever right now. I’ve pushed myself this summer, not only physically, but mentally. Let’s go LH.
