Like, tubular. I’ve noticed a lot of LH alums from the early 1980s showing up at the baseball playoff games. If you’re Wildcat from the 80s and have missed a reunion or two, you can catch up with old friends at 1 p.m. Saturday when the Cats host Belton. For sure.

Of course, many of the 1980s alums are parents of current or former students, i.e. LH legacies. That includes Scott and Michelle Johnson, parents of track and cross country standout Mary Margaret Johnson. Sam Finklea was at Saturday’s game along with son Max, a former LH baseball player (no sign of Sam’s wife, fellow LH grad Robin, or daughter Caroline).

Stuart Sides, rock star and proud papa of Whitney Sides, sat behind me at the last game. Another early 80s’ alum, Steve Horn, was spotted at one of the Rowlett playoff games. Horn was decked out in Rowlett maroon, but can be forgiven – somewhat – since he said his nephew plays for Rowlett. Jeff Finney, an avid Wildcats follower, was also in the crowd.

Dick Laurin (a ’78 alum, but close enough) has been doing a great job handling the public address announcing for the last couple of home games. Dick is married to ’80s grad Maryane Laurin and both are parents of LH backup catcher Richie Laurin.

Also at the last game were Jana and Paul Maturi. Jana, of course, like Robin Finklea, is on staff at LHHS. Paul, a former LH player and assistant coach, is now the defensive coordinator at Jesuit, which will be a district rival of the Wildcats in the fall.
